Like I said before the way I do it is lowering render distance to 9, fast graphics, at least 4gb of ram. I personally have an old i3 Intel processor and half decent graphics card and get about 40 fps--if you are looking into ways of improving fps a good way to do this could be looking into Java parameters people have made to improve fps, back on agrarian sky's on my old pic I went from 10fps to 40 just from parameters.
